Guide to making a Signature [Abstract]

Post by shree »

Its been a long pesting issue with any of the forum users how can I get a cool signature as that guy.
Will I be able to make it ?
How long will it take ?
Where can I find the right pictures ?

So I decided to make a guide which many of u guys can follow to make your own signature. This guide should also get you familiar with Photoshop a bit so u can make more of them or even participate in the banner contest in the Event section.

Sit Back n Read through :)

Cheers.

We will try creating some thing like this
These are some-elses signatures but a good example of it.

Image

Things to remember:
Signature Size - 350x 125 pixels.

Step 1. Start with a new document or picture [what ever u may call it]
select the above size choose a transparent or a black background.

Step 2. Filter > render > Lens Flare [select a brightness of 90 to 110% with a 105mm]
Place the Flare Centre at one of the corners. repeat the same steps 4 more time to achieve something
like this.

Image

Step 4. Duplicate the Layer [ctrl+J] and go to Filter > DIstort > Wave and use these settings.

step 5. set the Blend mode of the Layer [duplicated layer] to Lighten. Keep duplicating the layers [layer with the chrome effect] and applying step 4 untill u get something similar to this.

Image

If some parts of the image becomes too bright use a soft brush from the brushes [default brushes] to remove them from the layer. or if it seems the image is lacking in contrast use the Brighteness/COntrast use the slider of the contrast to adjust it. Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.

Step 6. Now go to Layer > New adjustment layer > Selective Colour. depending on the render you will use.
Adjust the settings for a firey colour. then select neutral and do the same adjustments. And finally the
same for Black as well.

Step 7. Press "D". Make a new layer and with a grudge brush or an abstract brush begin brushing the layer
with the original settings.

Step 8. Set blend mode to Overlay. Duplicate the layer and set the blend mode to Soft Light.

Step 9. Make a new layer. go to Image and select Apply image. go to filter > blur > grussian blur and select a
radius of 1 px. set blending mode to loghten adn opacity to 50%.

Step 10. Create a pattern size of 1px x 1 px and fill it with the paint bucket tool.
How to make a pattern. Open a new document of size 3px x 3px and fill it with colour now go to Edit >
Define pattern.

Step 11. back to the signature image. make a new layer and using the paint bucket tool fill the layer with
that pattern. When u select the paint bucket tool it has a option named foreground selected on the top
left corner. selct it and u ll see the patern option. Go to filter > distort > waves and use the org
setting except for the undefined ares select wrap around.

Step 12. Press Ctrl +F 2 or 3 times then ctrl + shift + u to desaturate the layer and set blend mode to
Overlay.

Gratulations we are now finished with the background of the Signature :)

The Background I made :

Image

Post a few backgrounds here so that I can give u guys a few renders which u can use for the signature.

Renders.
what the Heck are these?
they are stock or images which have been carefully cut apart from their backgrounds. u may get renders something that has a white background. dont get panicked.

In the Next steps we ll see how we use renders to use them on a signature :)
