This donation argument is useless and going on since long in every private server for every game all over the world. I have seen a quiet few. So I really think it is no use discussing it as it never reaches any conclusion... even after 100s of comparative examples with real life "buying" "selling" "donating".
deadraizer is right in explaining it.
As far as RN is concerned, Scar mentioned clearly that the new client is not currently supporting it as it is not in it.
SO, if it is not supported by the client.. how do you expect to use it? We could have plainly added the item in the game for all to use for it would not worked with the new client. No effects would have worked. It would have been plain cheating.. wouldn't it? At least you will be getting something useful instead of an useless item.
And we will add the new client whether RN works or not.

Re: GMs some things should be set in stone.
Its the Developers of the game who choose to remove the Item. We are using the Latest Korean client, and it clearly means that there is a change in the game. As amendments are made, things are added and removed.
If we are debating on this, that means we are debating on Game Originality vs Player Benefit. I myself and the GM team give more preference to the Game Originality over Player Benefit, because we want to keep it as real as possible.
Its not about the Eshop. We are always glad that we are getting a lot of Support from all the Players. If at all the change is made, it applies to everyone and its not just one or two.

Re: GMs some things should be set in stone.
I have played as GS (game sage) in Shaiya, which meant I had to primarily deal with player issues in-game and bureaucratically resolve them, in return they paid me gifts from eshop and discounts on personal purchases, and this is a game with 3 server and population exceeding Million players.deadraizer wrote:well, as far as I knw, the reason y they call it donation is b'coz I think it isnt allowed to sell items of a video game legally in a lot of countries for real cash, @least thts wht d reason which was given to me by another GM of another game (nt an A3 server).
Hence they call it donation, and "gift" u those items in game in return for ur "donation"
I hate to burst your bubble but try this, go to mmorpg.com and try to check eshops/cash shops for top F2P games there, not a single one of them calls it donation, its a shop, you buy things and you receive them and selling of intangible items over internet is NOT illegal in any country IF you include it in your TOS, specifying what the user is buying.
The fact I brought this up was cuz I see the word donation being thrown around so much as a alibi for lot of things GMs do, when we all know nobody gave away hundreds dollars in "donation", rather it was a exchange of cash for intangible goods. So why use a debatable word like donation when so called donators are obviously doing it with intention of receiving something in return.
Anyway this isnt leading anywhere good so it seems pointless discussing it any further. In my country we get tax evasion, if we donate, so how do I go about that? /sarcasm No phun intended.
Thnx & Bye for now

If tht isnt d case, thn d game has to b adults only, plus I think u need to tk sm spcl permissions, lyk in another game I used to play (its popu. is also in millions) they had to even abandon lotterys, b'coz the country they were primarily 4m prohibited gambling of ne sort for <18, and hence there purchasing of points of d game was called donation, and kept d age requirement of PG 13

I think u did not read my reply carefully. Read my reply again. I clearly said "Private servers". mmorpg.com does not lists private servers.mchaudh wrote:I hate to burst your bubble but try this, go to mmorpg.com and try to check eshops/cash shops for top F2P games there, not a single one of them calls it donation, its a shop, you buy things and you receive them and selling of intangible items over internet is NOT illegal in any country IF you include it in your TOS, specifying what the user is buying.
This argument/discussion is getting useless. Better drop it.. it is not going to lead anywhere.
